Today’s world requires everyone to be exposed to electronic media. Even where there is no electricity supply, children should not be deprived of learning to manage this essential tool. To this end, Sethule has provided access to solar-powered computers for children at various remote rural schools.
Sethule Orphans Trust
The greatest threat today facing vulnerable rural children is the effects of the disintegration of the rural community.
Sethule Orphans Trust is an orphan care project in some of the poorest rural communities such as Matopo, Hope Fountain and Tsholotsho. It is a locally driven Trust which seeks to reverse family disintegration resulting from the devastating effects of HIV/AIDS, poverty, consequently leading to countless numbers of orphans and 'child headed families'.
Zimbabwe Spring Break Trip
During Spring Break 2016, ten incredible LAS students and two teachers embarked on a life-changing, 2 week adventure to Zimbabwe, creating indelible memories and leaving a lasting impact on the people and communities with whom they worked.
The Sethule project is truly driven by the community itself; local community leaders meet the project director and board in order to prioritize their needs, and work together to facilitate provision of those needs.
The community-driven project thus encouraged by Sethule is one that we seek to develop, popularize, and spread to other communities close by, and ultimately further afield. As more and more communities learn of our success, they too want to partake and buy into our vision.
